NLW specializes in characterizing the hydrogeology of watersheds, a process that often entails assessing the complex relationship between surface water and groundwater. Depending on their scale and the client’s goals, these projects may require field studies, numerical modeling, hydrochemical analysis, and GIS methods, among other approaches.
|
NLW works with a variety of water providers — large and small — to develop reliable, sustainable supplies for drinking and other purposes. In addition to exploration, aquifer testing, and yield analysis, we conduct hydraulic analyses in support of acquiring and transferring water rights. We also offer expertise in assessing water quality and developing strategies for maintaining water wells. |
NLW offers hydrogeologic services for projects involving stream and habitat restoration. Adequate, high quality water supplies are needed to support fish and other aquatic life; unfortunately, habitat has been compromised in many areas because of land use practices. We work with clients to identify impacts to streams and to develop strategies for restoring flows. |
NLW staff members have investigated soil and groundwater contamination at sites throughout Washington State. In addition to characterizing the extent of contamination using field data, specialized analyses, and transport models, we have designed and implemented monitoring plans in accordance with common state and federal environmental regulations.
